Nationwide Building Society's internal communications system was in greater demand than first imagined and solutions were needed to meet emerging requirements. The replacement solution required the new system to be modular and scalable, to give callers the option of speaking to another employee before putting them through to voice mail, to support new work style initiatives such as hot-desking and home working, to be available on a 24/7 basis, and to integrate easily with the existing infrastructure.
Solution:
TeleWare plc, a leading solutions provider for enterprise-wide communications, led the implementation of the project. The resulting solution was based on the TeleWare platform running on the Microsoft® Windows® operating system and a fault-tolerant server from Stratus. The TeleWare solution running on the Stratus ftServer system provides a full complement of voice mail services to over 1,600 employees.
Result:
In addition to the added reliability, many have commended the system for additional features such as location-independent working, different message options, message routing, and automatic notification of new messages. Beyond this, TeleWare's Intelligent Telephony Services® (ITS) has been a key enabler of Nationwide's flexible working policies by providing optimum telephony solutions for employees to work away from the office. A pilot program involving 70 employees to validate the initiatives on the TeleWare solution was heralded as a large success. Today, there are over 1,200 users with ITS capability. The Stratus and TeleWare solution has proven to be an integral part of Nationwide's technology infrastructure.
