Client:
Global investment banking and securities company
Challenge:
Disaster recovery is a must to keep today’s computer-driven businesses up and running during a catastrophic incident. For this global investment banking and securities company, relocating its disaster recovery (DR) module to a new location without disrupting its online trade routing application was a major challenge.
Solution:
The move proved to be risk-free thanks to the Stratus Solutions Services team. The Stratus team proposed a "swing module" approach in which a complete duplicate of the client’s VOS-based Stratus® Continuum® production environment would be created, including solid-state disk drives provided by a Stratus partner. To prevent any logistical problems from occurring, such as insufficient power or phone lines, Stratus carefully inspected the new facility while the duplicate system was being built to the client's specifications. The plan called for the transition system to be in place at the new DR facility for three months, which enabled the bank to load and test its application before the actual moving day. Once all testing was done and the bank was ready to switch DR operations to the new site, Stratus uninstalled the original DR system.
Result:
Thanks to the expertise of Stratus Solutions Services, the bank's computer center was never at risk during the relocation process and their new disaster recovery facility will help protect them for years to come.
