Stratus conducts a risk assessment for all aspects of the network design and ongoing operation of the data center. Divided into three major components – infrastructure integrity, performance assurance and lifecycle management – the assessment identifies potential areas of concern and makes recommendations for mitigation. Further, the proposed three-tier network design prepared by the client is assessed for alignment with industry best practices and to ensure reliability, redundancy, and scalability. An adequate degree of separation between public users of the service and the data that supports the service is another essential criterion. The design must also make it possible to incorporate partners and customers into the network while still maintaining data safeguards.

The most significant design recommendations focus on the specific device models used in the network architecture, and the placement of devices to provide each “trusted user” – i.e. business partners and key customers – with secure access to the network and data. Further, the network environment, facilities, support policies and procedures, disaster recovery, security policies and procedures, and other influences will affect overall availability of the solution; these considerations are factored into the proposed network architecture so as to ensure continuous availability of service.
