A fire department in Asia

Challenge:

The client first installed a VOS-based system in 1991. Since then, all data on the system has been archived on tape to comply with local laws mandating that the fire departments have access to five years of historical data. When the department took the system out of service in 2005, it needed to find a way to transfer the data from the tapes to CDs and then convert it to a generic format that could be supported by the media storage facility's database program. More than 165 reels of tape had to be restored.

Solution:

The Stratus Solutions Services team loaded the information from the archived data reels onto another VOS-based system similar to the one no longer in use. Then the data was converted to the client's format specifications and archived to CDs.

Result:

In just two months, this client was able to restore and convert all its data in an efficient and cost effective manner.
