Client:

A local cable TV (CATV) operator in Mexico with a subscriber base spanning multiple cities.

Challenge:

This CATV operator planned to increase revenues by offering voice services and Internet access to its subscriber base. To execute its plan, the operator needed to upgrade its existing hybrid fiber coax (HFC) network to support converged services, add Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Voice over IP (VoIP) capabilities and incorporate billing, provisioning and customer care functionality for the new offerings. Success depended on time-to-launch, a quick return-on-investment (ROI) and the ability to add differentiated services and new subscribers in the future.

Result:

Within six months, the CATV operator was prepared to offer Triple Play (voice, video and data) services over an upgraded converged services network. An enhanced voice services feature set and capabilities such as customizable billing, a user-friendly customer Web portal and configurable service bundles position the operator to offer a richer, more personalized set of services than the incumbent telecommunications provider. Because the solution is customizable, scalable and partitionable, it facilitates additional revenue opportunities by enabling the CATV operator to create differentiated services, add new subscribers and host end-to-end VoIP services for other CATV providers.
