MAYNARD, Mass., May 1, 2007 – Stratus Technologies, Inc. announced today that the United Way of Tri-County elected Stratus President and CEO David J. Laurello to its Board of Directors at its annual meeting last week. Tri-County serves the needs of 34 Massachusetts communities with 51 programs in Middlesex, Norfolk and Worcester counties, and this year is marking 75 years of service to the area

“To realize maximum community impact from our efforts and achieve our mission of improving the capacity for people to help other people, we must take full advantage of the skills, insights and commitment of community leaders,” said Paul Mina, president and CPO of Tri-County. “We are very pleased to have Dave Laurello join us as a board member and look forward to his contributions as part of our leadership team.”

Laurello has been a top executive with Stratus since 1999 and was named president and CEO in 2003. At Stratus, Laurello has overseen the company’s securing of $470 million in financing, the acquisition of two companies and the expansion of its global partnerships, among other accomplishments.

In his nearly 30-year career in the Bay State’s technology community, Laurello was a long time executive at Digital Equipment Corp. before joining Stratus Computer and Lucent Technologies. Laurello, an Air Force Vietnam War veteran, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, from where he earned his BSEE and MBA degrees. He lives in Westford with his wife, Lauren.
