VMware Jumpstart Installation Service

Rely on Stratus’ experienced staff to ensure you get the benefits of virtualization without diminishing end-to-end performance and availability. Stratus support professionals team closely with your staff to properly install your VMware® ESX™-based ftServer system and train your IT professionals on appropriate operational procedures for your new virtualized environment. 

Key Steps and Deliverables

This service expedites knowledge and skills transfer from Stratus professionals and qualifies the proper installation and operation of your VMware-based ftServer system. Deliverables include:

Hardware and network installation

  • Stratus unpacks all system components; configures the network and sets up all hardware including Stratus ftScalable storage array configurations

Software installation

  • Software installation includes the:
    • ESX hypervisor
    • VMware Virtual Center software or management system (the management system must be provided by the client)
    • Installation and configuration of a total of four guest operating systems, including: Windows 2008, 2003 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. These OSs must be purchased in advance of the Jumpstart service.

Operational qualification testing

  • The installed system is tested and the client is trained in the proper use of Stratus test scripts and diagnostics.
  • We configure your system to enable Stratus ActiveService Network capabilities.
  • A written site survey accompanies the testing process.

Training

  • On-site training for three designated staff members covers daily operational and maintenance tasks and includes a comprehensive reference guide that will help you properly maintain your ftServer system going forward.
